Announcement - Mr Don Mkhwanazi

25 February 2010

To Members and Friends of BBEC

ANNOUNCEMENT

I am delighted to announce that Mr Don Mkhwanazi, iconic business leader and founding member of BBEC, has agreed to join the Executive Committee with immediate effect.

Mr Mkhwanazi, who is a former President of the Black Management Forum, is currently the Executive Chairman of Southern African Shipyards, which is the biggest ship building facility in Africa. It also houses a major ship repair division, which is aggressively pursuing a dominant African footprint. Africans own 60 percent of this venture.

In addition, Mr Mkwanazi serves on the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Council, a statutory body, which has been set up to advise Government on matters affecting BEE in this country.

The appointment to Exco also brings with it a strong footprint for BBEC in the KwaZulu Natal region. This advantage, together with Exco Member Nyami Mandindi, who is based in the Western Cape, enables BBEC to have a national penetration that contributes to its growth and voice.

We look forward to Mr Mkhwanazi’s wisdom and guidance as we continue to champion the agenda of true transformation in South Africa.

Yours sincerely

Hlengani Mathebula
Chairman
